JAGUAR Taps BLACK SABBATH/JUDAS PRIEST Engineer MIKE EXETER For 'Metal X" Album Mix
July 17, 2014British heavy metal legends JAGUAR have completed work on their new album, "Metal X", for an August release via Mondo Tunes. The CD was mixed by BLACK SABBATH and JUDAS PRIEST engineer/producer Mike Exeter.
Focusing on the fundamentals of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) era, the members of JAGUAR state that the new album is "as heavy, fast, loud and proud, all the components of what the band were about in '79, but recorded with a modern approach to get the best out of the new songs."
"It was great to have Mike on board for mixing duties," the group states. "He's a real cool dude, and one of the nicest guys in metal! Mike came straight from mastering with JUDAS PRIEST to work with us. He's nonstop and we are honored he gave us his time."
JAGUAR debuted some tracks from the album at their show at this year's edition of the Sweden Rock Festival, performing on the same day as BLACK SABBATH.
METALLICA's Lars Ulrich also shares some words about JAGUAR in the "Metal X" sleeve notes, stating that he has always been a huge fan of the band. The CD also features a special bonus track which METALLICA fans will be familiar with.
"Metal X" is JAGUAR's first new material release since "Run Ragged" in 2003 and features longtime bass player Simon Patel, who joined the band in 2006.
"Metal X" digipak CDs will be offered in the coming months. A limited-edition vinyl release is also being planned for later in the year.
In January 2007, Majestic Rock issued the first in a series of Internet-only archive releases containing a 1982 soundboard recording of JAGUAR performing in Hengelo, Holland. Entitled "Holland '82", the CD was strictly limited to 1,000 copies and featured sleeve notes from JAGUAR guitarist Garry Pepperd. It was only available from the Majestic Rock web site.
"Run Ragged" was released in July 2003 through Angel Air Records.
